Paintball markers were first manufactured and used as a commercial application in agricultural and logging industries to “mark” trees and cattle.
The first organized Paintball Game was a version of “Capture the Flag” played on June 27, 1981 in Henniker, New Hampshire, USA with 12 players: Lionel Atwill, Ken Barrett, Bob Carlson, Joe Drindon, Jerome Gary, Bob Gurnsey, Bob Jones, Carl Sandquist, Ronnie Simkins, Richie White, Noel, and Gaines.
The game was the result of a friendly wager between Hayes Noel, a stockbroker, and Charles Gaines, a writer and sportsman on who was the better “Survivor.”
The game was published by Sports Illustrated and rapidly gained word wide attention and popularity to the new born sport. Today, millions of people world wide enjoy Paintball both in the form of Speedball which culminates yearly at the NXL World Cup in Kissimmee, Florida and various forms of Woods-ball including competition Mil-Sim and mag fed games around the globe.

Unless you book a party AND pay $50 in advance for the “Private Party” upgrade option you will likely be playing with others. But that’s ok! We always attempt to have groups that are of similar experience playing together. The more people playing the more fun it is!
-
Long pants are recommended (strongly recommended… Unless you’re Chuck Norris, then you can wear anything). We suggest a long sleeve t-shirt. Camouflage is not necessary, but it will help you blend in (and not get hit). Hiking shoes/boots are recommended for ankle support, but tennis shoes will do. Be sure to dress for the weather if it looks like it could rain. Layers are good in case you get hot during play. A baseball cap you can wear backwards under the mask to protect the top of your dome while you’re low crawling through fighting positions. Gloves are preferred by some, a knuckle shot can sting a bit.
-
It depends on the amount of clothing your wear, how close to the shooter you are, and the speed of the ball. Generally, it’s like getting a good smack from a dry towel or a racquet ball (only much smaller). It might leave a welt, but that just gives you something to show off come Monday!

Our paint is washable and bio-degradable. You may want to bring something to put on the car seat for the drive home. It is kind of difficult to throw the car seats in the wash. Black Ops has outdoor graveled wash areas to hose off dirty shoes etc.

8 years old for regular paintball, 6 years old and up for low-impact paintball parties, and 4+ years old for Gel Blaster parties. All paintball players must be able to fit the safety goggles, no matter what their age, before they can play. All players under 18 need a waiver form signed by their parents or guardian in order to play. This form can be filled out in advance and brought to the field on game day. If your kid is attending a party they must be under the supervision of a parent you authorize otherwise you must be in attendance.

Like any active sport, there is always a possibility of accidents. As long as the safety gear is worn and the rules are followed, paintball has been proven to be the one of safest sports available. Safer than golf in fact. Our most common injuries are ankle twists/sprains from the rough terrain, which is why we recommend high top hiking shoes or boots.

NO. Black Ops is a FIELD-PAINT-ONLY field. That means that we do not allow outside paintballs in our arena. We provide a quality bio-degradable paintball that breaks on impact (rather than a painful bounce), that is good for use with all types of paintball markers. This policy is in place to ensure we comply with insurance, safety, and environmental standards.
Don’t worry, we sell our paintballs at the same price or lower than what you can get it for on Amazon!
Because we are a high volume distributor we go through our paint very quickly ensuring that it has not sat in a hot warehouse for months before getting to you the end user. The result to you is a fresh ball at a good price!

All players play the game differently, so each person uses a different amount of paint. Most players will make do with however much (or little) they have. We’ve found that the average player uses about 200-700 paintballs in an afternoon of play (some will use more, some will use less). The best thing to do is purchase paint by the case, if possible, since the cost per case is the least expensive way to get additional paintballs. If you have any paintballs left over, you’re welcome to take them home with you and bring them back for use next time you play, keep in mind they last aprox 2-3 months when stored in appropriate temperature controlled environments (store them inside your home not in the garage). If paintballs appear to be hardened or decaying they will not be permitted to be used to protect our customers from getting hit with old/hard paintballs.
-
No. We cannot reimburse you for lost or stolen goods INCLUDING paintballs! With over 150 customers on site at a given time it is extremely likely that someone will help themselves to your paintballs if they are left out unsupervised on a park bench or table. We have lockers available if you bring a padlock, or you can store them in your vehicle if everyone in your party is playing on the field at the same time.

Black Ops may give refunds or store credit at its discretion. There are no refunds on paintballs, as we can’t resell used paintballs. The birthday package or large group deposit is non-refundable. However, if you need to reschedule for any extenuating circumstances you may do so one time, within 48-hours of your scheduled date, and apply your deposit towards the new date. Special circumstances may warrant an exception to this policy such as a sudden military deployment with orders that would make rescheduling impossible or improbable. In such cases Black Ops Paintball may issue refunds at its discretion.

Low impact paintball is the term used for .50 caliber paintball as opposed to regular paintball (.68 inches in diameter ball). The .50 caliber ball has less mass and therefore less Jules of energy (power) then the .68 ball resulting in a less intense hit.
Low impact paintball is the new age style of playing the extreme sport of paintball with less impact or “sting”. We use the unique .50 Cal Tippmann FT-12 (similar look and feel as a Tippmann 98 but shorter and lighter) that shoots smaller paintballs at lower velocities giving hits a much softer impact. It is the ideal way to play for corporate outings, new players and kids alike. Enjoy the fun sport of paintball with no fear of being hit. You can book a Low Impact Paintball Party at Black Ops for the same price as a regular paintball party! A few benefits of Low Impact Paintball are:
- No pain
- Lower velocity
- Lower impact energy
- Lighter equipment
- More enjoyable
- Exclusive play with only other low impact players
We recommend Low impact for:
- groups/families with children under 8 years old
- new players that are intimidated by playing with/against more experienced players
- anyone wanting to play paintball but not wanting to get the associated bruises or welts.
-
No only tournament grade markers are allowed on the speedball field. Due to time constraints and field availability you may not play on all fields. Some fields are shared with airsofters as well.
-
NO HOMEMADE PROJECTILES! All of our customer’s safety is important to us. If found using homemade rounds we will ask you to dispose of them. Second offense, could result in expulsion from the field for a day.
